Tonight we attempting a sleepover with our toddler. The only other time we have ever shared sleep space was 2 months ago when we did a birthday at a waterpark and it worked out that we needed to all share a bed.
It was a terrible experience. 10 minutes in we were begging him to be quiet and just go to bed. We used to always say how fun it would be to have him snuggle with us at night but this was a great way to keep him out of our bed. But since we are all cooped up in this house with no real end in sight, we want to do something fun and out of the ordinary.
We ordered some pizza (local, of course) and had my mom make some popcorn. We made a make shift bed out of cushions in our family room and we are all getting ready to watch Secret Life of Pets 2. Moana was requested, but dad refused to watch it again (by far his favorite movie ever since he was a baby. we have watched it an embarrassing number of times…). Then Toy Story was requested, so dad suggested Toy Story 4. Then when we agreed on that, dad changed it again. I don’t think dad understands sleepovers.
I was so amused by this part: “10 minutes in we were begging him to be quiet and just go to bed. We used to always say how fun it would be to have him snuggle with us at night but this was a great way to keep him out of our bed.” Here’s hoping that the sleepover turned out as fun it sounds!

How fun! We call them “living room campouts”. I hope it is a successful sleepover that you all enjoy. Either way, you are making memories.

Love the idea of a good, old-fashioned sleepover! Perhaps not perfect, but doing something out of the ordinary is so important. Stay well!
